Key Ingredients & Benefits

Shea Butter - Shea butter is one of Nature's wonders, but it is a special one. It has been used for years by many generations of Ghanaians for skin care, baby care, healing and food. The Shea tree is considered sacred because of the bounty of goodness it can do for your skin, hair, beauty and health. Shea butter is essential to renew, repair and protect the skin against aging and harsh climate.

Coconut Oil- Coconut oil is a great skin softener and helps you do away with dry and hard skin conditions. Coconut oil is used in many natural beauty products, and for good reason: It's naturally antibacterial and antifungal, coconut oil for skin is an excellent moisturizer, it can penetrate hair better than other oils, and, well, it smells like cookies.

Black Soap- black soap is a gentle, all-natural alternative cleanser made only from plant materials. The soap cleanses gently, so it's ideal for people with rosacea, rashes, dryness and other skin conditions. African black soap contains plantain extract, which has antibacterial properties that may help treat acne breakouts. The soap can be used as a shampoo or mild makeup remover. Black soap is made by harvesting and sun-drying palm leaves, cocoa pods and the bark from shea and plantain trees. This material is then roasted in a kettle at a constant temperature and mixed with oils, such as coconut and palm oil. The soap then cures for two weeks before it's ready to use.

Coffee- Coffee Exfoliates the Skin. Rubbing the coffee grounds on your skin will remove dead skin cells and leave you with smoother skin. Coffee Tightens the Skin. Caffeine is a known diuretic and can banish cellulite when applied topically. Coffee Brightens the Skin. The dark grinds of coffee beans can be used to brighten up dull skin.

Pink Himalayan Salt- helps draw out toxins, deep cleanses the skin, and helps cleanse the body energetically.

Mint- Mint contains antioxidant vitamins A and C, which can help fight inflammation, mint also contains the B vitamins riboflavin and folate, which may help brighten skin. Products containing mint can ease swelling, reduce redness and calm itchiness.

Vitamin E- The contributions of vitamin-E towards skin care are well known. It is essential for healthy skin growth, repair of wear & tear on the skin, keeping skin smooth and protecting against cracking. Above all, it prevents premature aging and wrinkling of the skin, since it has good antioxidant properties.

The ORIGIN STORY

2017

In 2017, Kate Lynn & Adwoa Skin + Body care line was launched! The line is named after Davida's grandmother (Kate), sister (Lynn), and mother (Adwoa) and is true to her mission – to provide 100% natural skin care products that are not only beneficial to our skin, but also serve as tribute and source of empowerment to the women of Ghana.

KLA GOES TO GHANA

2018

Pioneering the KLA Experience:

In 2017, after a vacation to Ghana, Davida returned to the U.S and was met with a flood of questions from friends and strangers alike, all eager to know more about Ghana's rich culture, vibrant communities, and hidden gems. It was then that Davida realized the growing interest in Ghanaian culture and the desire for authentic experiences that went beyond the typical tourist trail.

Driven by her passion for sharing the beauty and warmth of her homeland, Davida decided to turn her vision into reality. She envisioned an experience that would offer more than just a vacation—it would be a journey of cultural immersion, personal connection, and self-discovery. This vision birthed the first Kate Lynn & Adwoa (KLA) trip to Ghana, a curated experience that would blend the richness of Ghanaian culture with the intimacy of community and the joy of connection.

The First KLA Trip:

In August 2018, Davida embarked on her first KLA journey with a group of 10 friends & family who signed up to join her in Ghana for the Chale Wote Festival, an annual street art festival that celebrates the vibrant arts scene in Accra.

YEAR OF RETURN

2019

"2019 was an important year throughout the African diaspora — the 400th year since enslaved Africans first arrived in the United States. In Ghana — once the center of the European slave trade — 2019 was declared "the year of return" and the start of a campaign to encourage descendants of enslaved Africans to re-connect with the land of their ancestors. Thousands of African-Americans made the trip to Ghana — and many decided to stay."

As for KLA GOES TO GHANA...

What started as a small group of 10 has since grown into a thriving community. KLA now hosts on average 10-30 people each month, curating high-end vacations, birthday celebrations, anniversaries, and holiday events. Each trip is a unique blend of luxury, adventure, and cultural immersion, tailored to provide a bespoke experience that leaves a lasting impact.
